SkyShare Survey Uncovers Surge in Executive Demand for Private Jet Travel Despite Cost Barriers

Today, SkyShare, a private aviation firm based in Utah specializing in affordable and flexible private jet travel, published the results of a survey examining the advantages of flying private and the main obstacles to entry. The survey, which gathered insights from C-Suite executives and senior business leaders on their views of business travel, highlighted a rising interest in private aviation among top management. However, concerns about perceived costs remain a significant barrier to wider adoption.

Since the pandemic, private flight usage has seen a substantial increase due to its flexibility, efficiency, and the peace of mind it offers travelers. Among the respondents, 37% report traveling for business on a monthly basis, with 77% primarily relying on commercial flights.

The study, which surveyed 1,000 full-time C-Suite executives and senior managers, revealed that cost and the flexibility of fleet options are the most important factors when considering private aviation. Notably, 75% of respondents cited cost as the main barrier preventing them from choosing private flights, followed by a lack of information about services and the industry (identified by approximately 41% of respondents). Additionally, more than one-third of those surveyed expressed a strong desire for peace of mind when traveling, such as avoiding layovers, ensuring their luggage isn’t lost, heading straight to the plane, and avoiding cancellations and delays.

To address these concerns, travel solutions need to be tailored to the specific needs of today’s business leaders. Senior executives and C-suite professionals prioritize options that save time, provide greater scheduling flexibility, and minimize travel-related stress, which adds to the pressures of their professional lives. While cost remains a key consideration for those who fly private, 77% of respondents prioritize time-saving benefits, 74% value increased scheduling flexibility, 69% appreciate reduced stress and hassle, and 35% emphasize the importance of spending more time with family. These statistics highlight the necessity of customizing travel solutions to meet the demands of busy executives.

“The bedrock of SkyShare’s culture is customer-service. We do our absolute best to shut up and listen first. The only way to be a great guide is to empathetically understand the goals and wants of the person you’re guiding. This survey was an opportunity to hear from folks who want to be our customers. How can we meet them where they are? All business leaders would love to fly private, but there are still a multitude of hurdles to overcome, with cost being the most significant hurdle,” said Cory Bengtzen, CEO and Founder of SkyShare.
