Lee County shares hospitality and tourism news after Hurricane Ian

At a latest forum of Real Estate Investment Society, a section of community bests shared the recent
hospitality and tourism news after Hurricane Ian and their truthful anticipations for the future.

Tamara Pigott, the Executive Director of Lee County Visitors & Convention Bureau shared positive news
regarding the tourism metrics from last year.

Pigott said that the past three months of this year got considerably impacted. Nevertheless, it was, excluding the amount of tourists, 2022 became the best year concerning tourism in Lee County. The tourists spent 4.1 billion dollars. They collected 66.5 dollars in visitor levy.

However, Pigott also said that there is much more that needs to be done.

Dana Souza, Sanibel City Manager talked over property standards following Hurricane Ian.

He said that their property prices after Hurricane Ian have declined 34%. That is more than $2B in property prices.
