This year’s Seoul International Book Fair concluded
on June 30, marking the fruitful close of Saudi Arabia’s
involvement as the Guest of Honor. Spanning five days,
from June 26 to 30, the Saudi pavilion attracted huge
multitudes, coming up as the most visited at the fair.
Headed by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation
Commission, the pavilion of Saudi Arabia offered a
wide-ranging cultural understanding, exhibiting the
country’s opulent tradition, arts and culture to the
Korean community.
The Saudi pavilion was a cooperative effort,
showcasing offerings from numerous Saudi cultural
bodies, comprising the Fashion Commission, Heritage
Commission, Culinary Arts Commission, King Salman
Global Academy for Arabic Language, King Abdulaziz
Public Library, King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research
and Archives, Publishing Association, King Fahd
National Library and the Ministry of Investment.
The cultural program at the Saudi pavilion was a
highpoint at the fair, including 13 panel discussions
with 24 orators who probed into the complexities of
Saudi tradition and its influence on Korean culture.
The dialogues took into account a variety of subjects,
comprising the arts, aesthetics, account of civilizations,
literature, trade and cultural inheritance concerning the
two countries.
Further than the panel discussions, the Saudi pavilion
presented a variety of attractive undertakings and
displays. Visitors also relished a Saudi dinner night,
where they could taste traditional countrywide dishes.
Live demos of Arabic handwriting, carving and
traditional crafts supplemented the exciting ambience.
The Saudi pavilion also presented displays of
uncommon books, documents, artifacts found in the
kingdom, traditional outfits along with musical
instruments utilized in Saudi music.
