In celebration of World Nature Conservation Day on July 28, The Orchid Hotel collaborated with Umang Foundation and Shimla Yuvak Mandal to conduct a tree-planting event. Together, they planted 100 Deodar trees in the neighboring village of Shurala. The Forest Department supported this eco-friendly endeavor by providing the location and donating the saplings, ensuring the project’s success.

Vinod Yogacharya, the trustee of the Umang Foundation, revealed that the organization annually plants hundreds of trees. “During the summer season, there are many incidents of wildfires in the forest which
cause severe loss of flora and fauna. This initiative is aimed at solving the issue by planting more trees,” he said.

Mahinder Rawat, the General Manager of The Orchid Hotel Shimla, spearheaded the plantation initiative with his committed environmental team, comprised of Rekha Sharma, Satish Chauhan, Abhishek Kaith, Upendra Gupta, and Puran Chand. This collaboration highlights the hotel’s dedication to ecological conservation and active community engagement. “This drive will not just contribute to the local ecosystem and add to the region’s natural beauty, but also help in reducing the occurrence of land erosion and global warming,” Rawat added.

The Orchid Hotel Shimla expressed its heartfelt thanks to Yuvak Mandal Shimla, the Forest Department, and the surrounding community for their invaluable contribution to the event’s success.
