WTTC signs MoU with Saudi Arabia Tourism to extend their partnership

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Saudi Ministry of Tourism have announced the continuation of their relationship through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).This historic agreement comes on the heels of last year’s successful Global Summit in Riyadh and demonstrates the Kingdom’s commitment to further developing its travel and tourism sector.

Saudi Arabia is investing a whopping $800 billion to unlock the full potential of its stunning landscapes and cultural riches for tourists from all over the world. This historic partnership brings together the commercial and governmental sectors in a collaborative effort to develop a long-term growth strategy.

The Memorandum of Understanding, signed in Riyadh at the Kingdom’s World Tourism Day event, cements the collaboration between WTTC and Saudi Arabia, focusing on furthering important objectives such as job creation, talent development, and global commercial prospects in Travel & Tourism.

“Through the signing of this MoU, WTTC and the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia embark on a new chapter of cooperation, uniting our expertise to shape a prosperous future for the Travel & Tourism sector,” stated Julia Simpson, President & CEO of WTTC.

“Together, we can continue to create a powerful synergy that will open doors to endless opportunities, benefiting travellers, businesses, and destinations alike.”

Princess Haifa bint Mohammed Al Saud, Vice Minister of Tourism for Saudi Arabia said, “Yesterday’s extension of our partnership with WTTC marks a significant milestone in our journey towards a more sustainable tourism sector. This collaboration highlights our commitment to fostering global business opportunities and talent development whilst underlining the vital role of public-private partnerships in shaping the future of Travel & Tourism.”

The alliance intends to raise tourism’s profile on both the global and national levels, while also boosting skills, innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, and the transition to a more sustainable and resilient Travel & Tourism industry.

Furthermore, the cooperation will encourage community empowerment and participation, as well as collaborate on crisis planning, management, and recovery, drawing on experiences learnt during the COVID-19 epidemic.
